Something new for me this time – a fanmix! This is my first attempt at this, but it was a lot of fun, so I’ll probably do it again.
A note of warning : my internet connection isn’t consistant enough for me to provide download links, hence the YouTube. Sorry, folks.
Alrighty then. Essentially, this is a fanmix for Amy and Melody, during their imprisonment by Madam Kovarian. I’ve tried to get inside Amy’s head as much as possible, because she must have been going through a hell of a lot inside.
Vertigo - U2 :
“Hello, hello, I’m at a place called vertigo / It’s everything I wish I didn’t know / Except you give me something I can feel”
The birth scene was a bolt from the blue, so we hit the ground running, with a song that reflects, as much as possible, Amy’s feelings at waking up in that situation – disorientation, mainly, with Melody being the only thing she can truly focus on.
Blindness - Metric :
“Well what it is and where it stops nobody knows / You gave me a life I never chose / I wanna leave but the world won’t let me go”
A gentler song. An exhausted Amy begins to understand that she’s a prisoner.
Keep Breathing by Ingrid Michaelson :
“All that I know is I’m breathing / All I can do is keep breathing”
Realizing she can’t escape, Amy tries to stay calm and focus on the fact that she now has a baby to look after.
Don’t Let Them See You Cry - Manchester Orchestra :
“Don’t let them see you cry / When the dam breaks down and the city’s covered in water / Because I believe we fly / When the moon takes shape and I doze off on your shoulder”
I can’t see Amy wanting to let Madam Kovarian see that she’s getting to her. This is quite a lullaby-like song – the idea is that Amy is bonding with Melody, drawing strength from her and trying to be the mum she needs.
Fear - One Republic :
“I wish I didn’t know the meaning of fear”
Amy watches the soldiers on the base below. The idea is that Amy Pond would normally attack all guns blazing, but she’s afraid to fight back too much, because she doesn’t understand what the soldiers are for, and she’s afraid for her daughter’s safety.
Push Your Head Towards The Air - Editors :
“When you fall and you can’t find your way, push your hand up to the sky / I will run just to be by your side / Don’t you ever bat an eye … But I will tear the price from your head / And keep you from harm / That’s what you said”
Amy promises Melody she’ll protect her.
Butterflies and Hurricanes - Muse :
“Change everything you are, and everything you were / Your number has been called / Fights and battles have begun / Revenge will surely come / Your hard times are ahead”
Rory and the Doctor get nearer, and Amy watches the soldiers prepare for battle. A more intense song again, because everything is just about to kick off.
